Shipping Container Safety Tips
With the summer months approaching, we thought we would let you in on a few shipping container safety tips.
Check for Puppies: Before you close up your container, make sure your beloved pet is not inside. It has happened here before; they follow you around, sometimes unnoticed, and can get locked inside easily! During the summer and winter months, the temperatures can be too extreme for the animals to get locked inside accidentally.
Lubricate Door Hinges: Always keep your doors in good working condition. Read more about Container Door Upkeep.
Ventilation: It is always good to have good ventilation inside your container, especially in the hot summer months. Entering an unventilated container can be potentially hazardous. Read more about Container Vents and Fresh Air.
Lighting: Not all containers have access to electricity to provide lighting. If not, there are natural lighting and solar lighting options. See our blog about Skylights & Natural Lighting. Having lighting can help reduce accidents!
Don’t Stack Items on the Top: Extra weight on top of the container weakens it and compromises its strength and safety. This also prevents injuries from falling objects off the rooftop.
Stack Heavy Items First: When filling your container, be sure to put the heavy items on the bottom and lighter items on top. Heavy items can crush what’s underneath or tip over and cause an injury.
Thank you for making it to the end. In conclusion, if you own or rent a shipping container, it is important to know a few safety tips to avoid unwanted accidents.
