February is the month that celebrates all things heart related. It is the time we celebrate our loved ones and look at giving to others. USA-Containers is a family owned business, and we pride ourselves in giving back to our community. With several daughters involved in community projects like 4-H, FFA, and the Family Outreach Community Center, it is easy to give support.
For 4-H we sponsor plaques for livestock winners, donate money and this past year we donated a container to the Henderson County 4-H so they could store all of their supplies in one area. This year’s plan is to paint it the traditional 4-H Green.
The Family Outreach Community Center is a local center that gives clothes, food and supplies to needy families, but more importantly they give training classes and job skills to those that they serve. We provide monetary funding and a truck and a driver for the 3-hour round trip to pick up food at the regional food bank in Peoria.
In late 2013 Illinois experienced several tornadoes in the Peoria/Washington area. USA-Containers quickly rallied with local groups and filled a 20’ container with much-needed items and delivered it to the headquarters for the tornado relief. Storage was scarce during the time so we donated the container rent free for several months until the communities could get back on their feet.
Since family is very important to us, we were able to help Mike’s sister Nancy Bundy with her community service with the Oquawka, Illinois Catfish Cook-off fundraiser. Who wouldn’t want to participate in such a fun event? We donated the use of one of our 40’ refrigerated containers for the weekend event and even entered the contest. Although our wonderful recipe of blackened catfish with green pepper goat cheese didn’t win, we all had a fun time serving samples out of our display shipping container.
Those are just a few of the activities we have been involved with. We will continue to help our community throughout the year and look forward to helping you with your container needs.
