Stay Cool This Summer
The view from my office window is looking beautiful. The pasture grass is swaying in the breeze resembling the waves on the ocean. It is hard to focus on the task at hand. That task involves the cold, which this time of year, is hard to fathom. Luckily, I don’t have to relive winter and actually get cold I just have to think cold.
USA-Containers is a vendor for Walmart. We supply many stores with their refrigerated containers for their holiday food storage. All those extra hams and turkeys are stored in our units and replenish the store’s supplies as needed. June is the month where we start taking reservations on our refrigerated units and began prepping the units for delivery in October.
Mike Doss, our refrigerated shipping containers specialist, is currently working on a unit now doing general maintenance to make sure the motor is purring away and ready to be put to work in a few months. We currently have 20 units getting ready to go on rent, but I have a feeling that poor Mr. Doss will be prepping a few more units. Our president Mike Alecock has been talking with a few companies that are wanting to purchase some reefer units. Seems like as soon as Mike Doss gets one ready for the Walmart fleet, Mr. Alecock sells it. I guess for a business this is a great problem to have.
Which leads me back to my problem of staying focused. I am closing the blinds to block my beautiful view of green waves and getting on the phone, calling my friends in the invoice department at Walmart to book reefer reservations. If you are in need of a refrigerated unit better book one fast before Walmart gets them all. If you miss out you can always come and hang with me and pretend the green grass waving in the wind is a beach somewhere in Florida. Oh, but on second thought you better not, Mike Doss might put you to work prepping a unit.
