Family and The 4th of July
The 4th of July holiday is behind us. We hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family and friends, we sure did. We attended a 3 day family reunion and got to spend time with family members we hadn’t seen in years. The event was filled with fun games, site seeing and of course wonderful food. It was especially good to just sit and relax and catch up with the extended family and find out what everyone was up too. We learned a lot too.
What We Learned
The main thing we learned was that we needed to slow down more and spend some time just being a family and doing relaxing things. When you own your own business you find that you never take time off and you work a lot more than the average 40 hours a week. This work schedule isn’t very conducive to having family time, but we are making plans to change that. Like a new diet or exercise program we are going to make small changes so that we are successful and don’t give up.
Changes Have Started
One of the first changes we have started is to have Friday lunch at work complete with a grill and all the fixing. This was actually started this in the spring. We found that it was a great way to start the weekend and it allows us to hang with employees, well okay our friends, and not talk business.
Proud of this first step, we decided to grow our own meats for the grilling Friday. Let me introduce you to our first pen mates, Baby and Backs. They joined USA-Containers last month and will be providing the company with many meals and perks for working here. They have a large pasture and get plenty of healthy food, fresh water and daily scratches.
We hope all of you will take time to spend with family and friends and remember that work is important, but spending time with those you love is even better. Better wrap this up so I can make plans for this weekend. I think we will head to the lake and spend the weekend camping and fishing. We can add the fish to the grilling menu too.
